Content: The purpose of course is to bring together and integrate in a single text the more general subject matter of the three principal areas of environmental engineering-water treatment, solid waste management, and air pollutant.
Syllabus: Environmental engineering is divided into the following three sections Section I- Water Treatment Lesson 1: An Overview of Wastewater Lesson 2: Constituents in Wastewater Lesson 3: Physical Unit Operations Lesson 4: Chemical Unit Operations Lesson 5: Fundamentals of Biological Treatment Lesson 6: Attached Growth and combined Biological Treatment Process Section II- Solid Waste Management Lesson 7: Evolution of Solid Waste Management Lesson 8: Sources, Composition, and Properties of Solid Waste Lesson 9: Thermal Conversion Technologies Lesson 10: Closure, Restoration, and Rehabilitation of Landfills Section III: Social Issues of Global Environmental Change Lesson 11: An Overview of Global Environmental Change—Global Warming Lesson 12: Technology and Reduction Policy to Cope with United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Lesson 13: Atmospheric Chemistry: Causes and Effects Lesson 14: What is the Role of the Press in Global Environmental Change? Evaluation Your grade for the course will be based on the essay exams (60%), the team project for presentation (20%), and class participation (20%).
